In Southend on Sea we have a zany Raft Race every year – weather permitting where hundreds of people make a Splash and raise funds for our local RNLI station or you can partake and raise funds for your own favourite charity.
All you do is choose a team, build a raft & have fun!
I’d definitely take my partner and my Daughter on my raft with me!

Lincolnshire has a tradition of great food and drink including the Lincolnshire Sausage and Poacher Cheese, together with Bateman’s Brewery, and all 3 of these are great together, especially with friends in a local Bateman’s pub!

Alnwick hosts an annual Scoring The Hales Football match on Shrove Tuesday every year since about 1762. It is a giant, free for all match between the Parishes of St. Michael and St. Paul. with about 150 lads on each team. The first team to score two hales ( goals) wins. It takes place in the grounds of Alnwick castle ( of Harry Potter fame) It is quite rough and muddy, but great fun. Sadly, I can’t take part because I’m female!

In Wales we have a tradition called the Coracle.
It is used by a single person and is a traditional lightweight wooden boat like a giant walnut shell that has a flat base for ease of use on shallow, fast-flowing rivers. We do it on the river Teifi although there are other places in Wales that also do it.
It is great fun and my husband has done it for many years. It is a lovely day out when the weather is nice and we go and watch and support the locals.
If you could fit two people on the Coracle I would go on with my husband as he is the expert !!!!
